BIOS 2050 - Genetics 4.5 Credits
Students learn about both classical and modern genetics, gaining an understanding of many of the advances taking place in biology and medicine.
Prerequisites: BIOS 1450 and Math 0960 or higher and college-level reading, writing, and math proficiency

Course Objectives 1. Explain the processes of the two types of cell division in multicellular organisms.
2. Solve genetics problems using the principles of Mendelian genetics in the transmission of hereditary information from one generation to the next.
3. Describe how the molecular structure of genetic material governs the patterns of variation seen within organisms.
4. Evaluate the social consequences of biotechnology and human manipulation of genetic material.
5. Apply concepts of genetics to the evolutionary process.
