AUTT 1120 - Automotive II: Introduction to Maintenance

12.0 Credits

Students gain knowledge and skills in engine operations, transmissions, drivetrains including basic ignition systems, hydraulic principles, and vehicle maintenance. In addition, students perform brake rotor and drum resurfacing, identify and repair brake system components utilizing a variety of automotive testing equipment.

Prerequisites: (1) AUTT 1110 with a grade of “C” or better

Course Objectives

Describe the process of basic four-stroke engine operation and identify and explain location and components of cam shafts, cylinder heads, intake and exhaust valves, and timing systems.
Inspect, evaluate, and identify the components of an engines systems.
Inspect, identify issues, and perform repair services for disk and drum brake systems, including hydraulic and electronic systems.
Inspect, identify, and replace suspension and steering related components, and perform an alignment.
Inspect, evaluate, and identify the components of vehicle driveline for maintenance.
