DESL 2150 - Brakes and ABS 4.0 Credits
Through professional lab presentations, students study, analyze, and learn to repair ABS systems on both medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Students learn to repair, rebuild, and maintain air brake systems through lab experiences in wheel-end repair and maintenance.
Pre/Corequisite: (2) DESL 1000 and DESL 1200 with a grade of C or better must be completed prior to or at the same time as this course.

Course Objectives
- Work safely in the shop/lab without harm to oneself or other students.
- Gain the skill of tool usage through the hands on use of the student’s own tools and equipment/tools supplied by the college.
- Perform wheel end brake system disassembly, inspection, and assembly with emphasis on quality work.
- Develop skills and procedures to inspect and repair Chassis Brake Components for total Vehicle Chassis Operational Safety
- Identify brake parts and components.
- Identify brake wheel end failures and analysis procedures.
- Explain the function and theory brake components.
- Diagnose chassis brake system problems.
- Use lift equipment and specialty tooling.
- Diagnose ABS and EBS manually and using EST interface diagnostic equipment.
