WELD 2420 - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) - Aluminum II 3.0 Credits
Students learn welding of flat aluminum material in the horizontal and overhead positions, and pipe in the 1G and 5G positions, including a branch and header assembly. It includes the study of pulse-arc welding. This course is a continuation of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding-Aluminum I.

Course Objectives
- Properly and safely set up Gas Tungsten Arc Welding equipment.
- Use Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes (GTAW & GTAW-P) to produce quality welds on aluminum.
- Produce quality single-pass lap welds in the horizontal and overhead positions.
- Produce quality single-pass groove welds in the horizontal position.
- Produce quality single-pass fillet welds in the horizontal and overhead positions.
- Produce quality single-pass groove welds on thin wall round tubing in the 1G and 5G positions.
- Weld a branch and header assembly on thin wall round tubing.
- Pass fillet weld break tests and guided root bend tests.
