WELD 1420 - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) - Aluminum I 3.0 Credits
Students learn the theory and techniques used in basic gas tungsten arc welding of aluminum in the flat and vertical positions are emphasized. The equipment and its proper adjustment are covered. Also included are the many types of tungsten electrodes and the use of different gases.

Course Objectives 1. Set up GTAW equipment for the welding of aluminum.
2. Prepare a Tungsten electrode for GTAW welding
3. Weld fillet and groove welds in the flat position
4. Weld fillet and groove welds in the vertical position
5. Set up welding equipment for lift arc or scratch start using fixed amperage.
6. Weld fillet and groove welds in the flat position using fixed amperage.
7. Weld fillet and groove welds in the vertical position using fixed amperage.
