WELD 2240 - Flux-Cored Arc Welding I

Students learn gas shielded and self-shielded Flux-Cored Arc Welding in the flat & vertical positions using semi-automatic equipment.

Prerequisites: (1) WELD 2200

Course Objectives
  1. Properly and safely set up Flux-cored Arc Welding equipment.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of shielding gasses and electrodes used in the FCAW-G & FCAW-S processes.
  3. Use Flux-cored Arc Welding processes (FCAW-G & FCAW-S) to safely produce welds on carbon steel.
  4. Produce quality single-pass fillet welds, meeting specific size criteria, in the flat and vertical positions.
  5. Produce quality multi-pass fillet welds, meeting specific size criteria, in the flat and vertical positions.
  6. Produce quality multi-pass groove welds in the flat and vertical positions.
  7. Pass destructive tests, to include guided bend, cut & etch, and fillet weld break tests.
