SOCI 2150 - Survey of Human Sexuality 4.5 Credits
This course is a survey of the topic of human sexuality. It presents materials concerning the biological, psychological, and socio-cultural facets of sexual behavior. (Cross-listed as PSYC 2150 )

Course Objectives
- Describe the evolutionary, cultural, historical, and religious influences on sexuality and reproduction.
- Compare and contrast the various perspectives used to understand and explain human sexuality including the biological, evolutionary, psychoanalytic, behavioral, and sociological approaches.
- Delineate the research methods used to study and understand human sexuality and identify the contributions of groundbreaking researchers in the field.
- Describe the anatomy and physiology of sex, including the neurochemistry of arousal, love, and attraction.
- Explain various health issues as they relate to reproduction, sexual dysfunction, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and safer sex practices.
- Distinguish between sex, sexuality, and gender; and discuss the interactive biopsychosocial factors that influence these.
- Describe unique biological and social aspects of development that are associated with each stage of life (i.e., childhood through adulthood).
- Review the types and variations of human sexual behaviors.
- Discuss current social and legal issues surrounding sex including sexual harassment, assault and abuse, and sex for profit.
- Utilize APA-style format in writing assignments.
