INFO 1125 - IT Essentials PC Repair II


4.5 Credits

Students experience advanced, hands-on topics of hardware and software repair. Students conduct basic electronic trouble shooting, wireless networking, and system security. Through hands-on activities, students learn configuration procedures and more advanced trouble shooting procedures.  Topics of discussion and written labs include printers, mobile devices, and wireless operations.

This course aligns with and may help students prepare for the CompTIA A+ certification exam.

Note: To be successful students should already have basic computer literacy including working with a web browser, accessing information stored locally and on the cloud, and the use of common productivity software.

Prerequisites: (1) INFO 1105  with a grade of C or better.

Course Objectives
  1. Configure and troubleshoot the Windows operating system.
  2. Support the Linux and macOS operating systems.
  3. Configure SOHO network security and manage PC security settings.
  4. Support the use of mobile apps.
  5. Use remote support and scripting tools.
  6. Implement operational procedures.
  7. Work with trouble tickets.
  8. Create customer support documentation.
