INFO 1105 - IT Essentials PC Repair I 4.5 Credits
This course emphasizes the functionality of hardware and software components as well as suggested best practices in maintenance and safety issues. Through hands-on activities, students learn how to assemble and configure a computer, install operating systems and software, and perform basic troubleshooting of hardware problems.
This course aligns with and may help students prepare for the CompTIA A+ certification exam.
Note: Students should already have knowledge of basic computer literacy including working with a web browser, accessing information stored locally and on the cloud, and the use of common productivity software. This course must be completed with a grade of C or better.

Course Objectives
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot PC motherboards, systems components, and peripheral devices.
- Compare networking hardware types and configure local addressing and Internet connections.
- Summarize uses for network services, virtualization, and cloud computing.
- Support the use of mobile devices and print devices.
- Open, reassign, and close trouble tickets within a ticketing system to demonstrate practical understanding of basic ticket management.
