DIMA 2810 - Portfolio Development


4.5 Credits

Students in this DIMA graphic design capstone course will create a comprehensive final portfolio by revising projects from previous courses and/or creating new work. Students also practice job-seeking skills specific to the profession and requires students to create an identity suitable for job seeking.

Prerequisites: (1) DIMA 2310

Course Objectives
  1. Create a comprehensive and professional identity system suitable for seeking employment.
  2. Select projects from previous classes that will comprise a professional portfolio according to industry expectations for entry-level employment.
  3. Revise selected projects and/or create additional work as needed for final portfolio.
  4. Create final portfolio that showcases design skills, and reflects design style and career goals.
  5. Present a portfolio to a professional creative.
  6. Participate in a portfolio review.
  7. Implement job seeking techniques specific to the professional creative industry.
  8. Explain the basics of financial and contractual issues with regard to self-employment and employment within the creative industry.
