DIMA 1310 - Typography I

Students are introduced to type history, terminology, specifications and design.  Students apply fundamental criteria to select and use typefaces and fonts.

Prerequisites: (1) DIMA 1120

Course Objectives
  1. Outline origin and development of type.
  2. Use basic type vocabulary and terminology.
  3. Identify five basic families of type.
  4. Correctly set text type and display type.
  5. Evaluate typography for legibility and readability.
  6. Revise and enhance typography using computer.
  7. Make final evaluations and critique for designs.
