DIMA 1240 - Character Design 1 4.5 Credits
This course is designed to teach the techniques for producing character designs through the creative process of drawing. Students develop the understanding of the basic principles of character design including clarity, shape variation, expression, contrast, and story.
Prerequisites: (3) ARTS 1010 ; DIMA 1110 ; and DIMA 1120

Course Objectives
- Design and create characters that have believable personalities.
- Demonstrate the basic character design techniques.
- Apply character design principles to traditional drawing skills.
- Distinguish between styles of characters for Comic Books, TV and Web animation, Feature Animation and Video Games
- Design and develop characters utilizing professional established working methods.
- Create a professional model sheet of a character design lineup.
