DESL 2230 - Diesel Engine Rebuild

Students learn to do both in-chassis and out-of-chassis diesel engine rebuilds.

Prerequisites: (1) DESL 1230  with a grade of C or better or verifiable experience

Pre/Corequisite: (1) DESL 2211  with a grade of C or better or verifiable experience

Course Objectives
  1. Work safely in the shop/laboratory without harm to oneself or other students
  2. Gain the skill of tool usage through the hands on use of the student’s own tools and equipment/tools supplied by the college
  3. Perform diesel engine disassembly, inspection, and assembly with emphasis on quality work
  4. Identify diesel engine components
  5. Diagnose and repair diesel engines
  6. Explain the function and theory of diesel engine components
  7. Learn how to properly use diesel engine tools and test equipment
  8. Use of industry standard and OEM diesel engine terminology in oral and written communications
