DESL 2200 - Steering and Suspension


4 Credits

Students will learn to repair, align, and maintain heavy-duty truck steering and suspension systems.

Prerequisites: (1) DESL 1000  with a grade of C or better

Pre/Corequisite: (1) Take DESL 1200  with a grade of C or better

Course Objectives
  1. Demonstrate safe work habits in the shop/laboratory without harm to oneself or other students 
  2. Demonstrate the proper use of automotive repair tools through the hands-on use of the student’s own tools and equipment/tools supplied by the college 
  3. Perform steering and suspension component disassembly, inspection and assembly with a strong emphasis on quality work 
  4. Identify steering and suspension parts and components 
  5. Explain steering and suspension component failures 
  6. Explain the function and theory of steering and suspension components  
  7. Properly disassemble and assemble steering and suspension systems 
  8. Demonstrate proper use of specialty steering and suspension tools 
  9. Define and explain proper steering and suspension terminology
