ENGL 1011 - English Composition I with Studio 6.0 Credits
In this workshop-model course, students use the writing process to compose 3 thesis-driven essays and produce 15-18 pages of polished prose. Students use extended course time in workshops and conferences, developing their individual writing process. Students cultivate critical thinking, analytical reading, and systematic writing practices that are foundational to college-level writing. Students are expected to engage with challenging ideas through reflection, analysis, and critique. Students practice expressing these complex ideas in multiple modes and genres. Students become self-aware, independent, confident writers who take ownership of their writing process. Students benefit from smaller class sizes and individualized instruction.
Prerequisites: (2) 1000-level Writing Assessment score, and successful completion of ENGL 0960, or faculty recommendation.
