ARTS 2220 - Art Gallery Management 4.5 Credits
This course introduces gallery management, including planning, preparing, installing, and publicizing exhibitions. Students gain practical experience at MCC’s Elkhorn Valley Campus Gallery of Art and Design. Periodic field trips to other galleries are required.

Course Objectives 1. Plan the visual design of an art exhibition.
2. Prepare the gallery space and walls for the installation of an exhibition.
3. Properly and safely install artwork in a gallery situation.
4. Publicize the exhibition and opening reception to a target audience.
5. Prepare and execute an opening reception for the exhibition and/or artist(s).
6. Communicate effectively with an artist about that person’s work.
7. Prepare a presentation of a selected artist’s work.
