ARTS 1050 - Creative Careers 4.5 Credits
Students are introduced to a wide range of career options for visual arts professionals. This course provides an overview of careers in art and design, as well as arts entrepreneurship, in order to prepare students to generate income through creative endeavors. Students interact with visual arts professionals through field trips and/or guest speakers.

Course Objectives 1. Evaluate career opportunities in the arts through self-directed research and visits with creative professionals.
2. Develop and draft personal and professional goals.
3. Define professional standards and other special considerations for artists and designers work.
4. Generate meaningful content for use in self-promotion; relate the importance of branding as a creative entrepreneur.
5. Explain the basics of e-commerce and how it relates to artists and designers.
6. Develop skills necessary to apply for art-related jobs, continuing study, or exhibition opportunities; practice public speaking and convey ideas about creative work in a clear, succinct and enthusiastic manner.
