AUTB 1200 - Nonstructural Repair I 6.0 Credits
This course provides the fundamentals of shop safety, tool application, damage repair preparation, metal straightening techniques, and the use of body fillers in the repair of collision-damaged vehicles.

Course Objectives 1. Apply knowledge of safety related practices while performing collision repair work.
2. Properly wash a vehicle, apply wax and grease remover, and remove corrosion protection from the repair area.
3. Apply masking materials, remove or protect adjacent panels and parts so needed repairs can be completed.
4. Identify the necessary tools to straighten damaged sheet-metal.
5. Straighten a damaged metal panel close to original contours.
6. Shrink metal back to original size and shape, and explain the use of a variety of tools and methods used to shrink metal.
7. Select the correct filler and tools needed to perform final metal finishing.
8. Properly clean and prepare the repair area before applying plastic filler.
9. Properly mix and apply plastic body filler to a prepared area.
10. Restore the original contour and shape of a straightened panel using plastic body filler.
