ARTS 2010 - Life Drawing 4.5 Credits
This is an advanced drawing class that emphasizes drawing the human form with a variety of media. Students draw from the model and study the human figure in action and in still poses. The course includes rapid sketching, portraiture, long poses and memory work using primarily charcoal, Conte‚ crayon, ink and pastels.

Course Objectives 1. Draw of the figure with a variety of media.
2. Draw using various methods such as gesture, contour, and drawings that stress the planes and masses of the figure.
3. Make drawings that demonstrate accurate proportion of the human form.
4. Make drawings that give the illusion of a figure in space and light.
5. Make drawings of the human figure utilizing the basic art elements of line, shape, value, texture, and color.
6. Make drawings and sketches of the human figure employing the principles of composition and design
7. Make drawings of the human figure in a variety of real or imagined environments.
8. Research diverse traditions of the figure in Art History.
9. Actively participate in critiques of figure drawings by self and others.
