BIM Structural (BIMST)

To earn this certificate, a student must complete all required courses.
Total credit hours required: 28.5

This career certificate is for individuals with prior knowledge about building structural systems and construction documents who are seeking to up-skill or retool themselves to working with Autodesk Revit (a BIM - Building Information Modeling) and other industry-relevant software. Prior experience with construction documentation is recommended.

  1. Apply industry-relevant digital tools or technologies to produce accurate models, drawings, and technical documentation used throughout the AEC industry.
  2. Interpret architectural and engineering information to support coordinated decision-making among multidisciplinary teams.
  3. Analyze building materials, systems, and assemblies to evaluate their performance, constructability, and environmental impacts.
  4. Demonstrate professional workplace competencies-including ethical judgment, critical thinking, and effective communication-expected of AEC technicians.
  5. Integrate applicable codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks into technical work to ensure compliance and support safe, functional built environments.
  6. Assess how architectural and engineering systems interact within buildings to support performance requirements across structural, environmental, and user-centered outcomes.
  7. Contribute effectively to project workflows by preparing, organizing, and managing digital project information within collaborative AEC environments.
