This career certificate provides enhanced skills required for understanding the shift work and procedures required in the operation and maintenance of boilers and auxiliary equipment used in the power and process industries.

Program Level Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Be prepared both academically and experientially for entry-level employment in process operations or maintenance in manufacturing, food processing, bio processing, power generation, thermal generation, pharmaceutical, water treatment and other process industries.
  2. Appraise hazards found in the manufacturing, power and process industries and know the procedures and requirements regarding safety, PPE, and environmental issues.
  3. Describe core functions and operating fundamentals of advanced manufacturing, as it applies to various manufacturing power and process equipment including boilers, turbines, chillers, generators, diesel engines, fans, compressors, dryers, filters, motors, motor control and distribution centers, pumps, valves, valve operators, distillation towers, reactors, cooling towers, and other related manufacturing and production equipment.
