Pathway to Associate Degree: Civil Engineering Technician (CETA2)
This career certificate provides career preparation in land surveying practices. Recipients may seek employment in surveying entry-level positions in engineering, architectural and design firms, and government agencies.

Program Level Student Learning Outcomes
- Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in different engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- Identify, analyze and solve civil engineering propblems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- Prepare drawings and 3D models for civil engineering projects using computer-aided design systems. (Prepare plans, detailed dimensional drawings, design layouts and 3D dimensional models for structures, installations, and construction projects, such as highways, sewage disposal systems, and dikes using computer-aided design system.)
- Review rough sketches, drawing specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
- Record laboratory or field data, including numerical data, test results, photographs, or summaries of visual observations.
- Conduct topographic survey and prepare map of land surveyed, including site features, water location ad other relevant information. Prepare charts, drawings, and survey notes.
- Analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data to identify spatial relationships and display results of analyses, using maps, graphs, or tabular data.
