HLSM 2031 - Advanced Floral: Sympathy

4.5 Credits

Students will learn and use design skills to create advanced floral compositions for use in a variety of funeral settings. Students will learn the specialty flowers, foliage and hardgoods used in the funeral industry. Students will learn about different types of funeral services, complete a customer consultation and order form and learn to price each design they create.

Course Objectives

Discuss different types of funeral events and services
ID, properly name, and process flowers/foliage used in sympathy designs
Create a variety of sympathy flower designs
Complete Funeral Consultation and sympathy flower order forms
Create recipes for sympathy flower designs and calculate cost of each design
Create assigned designs based on a given budget, consultation and order form
