HLSM 2030 - Advanced Floral: Weddings


4.5 Credits

Students will learn and use design skills to create advanced floral compositions for use in a variety of wedding settings.  Students will learn the specialty flowers, foliage and hardgoods used in the wedding industry.  Students will learn about different types of wedding ceremonies, complete a bridal consultation and create a contract for delivery of services.

Prerequisites: (2) HLSM 1030 and HLSM 1031

Course Objectives
  1. Discuss wedding sites and types of wedding ceremonies
  2. ID, properly name and process flowers/foliage used in wedding designs
  3. Create a variety of wedding flower designs 
  4. Complete initial bridal consultations & wedding flower order forms
  5. Create recipes for wedding flowers and calculate cost of each design 
  6. Create a basic wedding contract to include pricing of all designs, services provided and an event timeline
  7. Create assigned designs based on a given budget, bride consultation and order form
