INFO 2005 - Mobile Device Repair


4.5 Credits

Students demonstrate proper procedures for customer service, privacy and security.  Students inspect, diagnose issues and perform basic repairs on mobile devices with a focus on smartphones.  Students also prepare and submit proper documentation on workflow tickets.  In addition, students demonstrate safe and proper usage of tools used for mobile device repair.  Students will be prepared to take the Wireless Industry Service Excellence (WISE) Tech Level 1 Certification exam.

Course Objectives
  1. Understand basic wireless technology Fundamentals.
  2. Diagnose common smartphone hardware issues.
  3. Use industry standards-based safety protocols, including the handling of Li-Ion batteries.
  4. Apply basic privacy standards during a smartphone repair.
  5. Perform network and operating system maintenance.
  6. Use industry-standard tools required for smartphone repairs.
  7. Troubleshoot most common smartphone repairs.
  8. Assemble and disassemble components and small parts of a mobile device.
  9. Document in-take request and issue resolution.
  10. Apply customer service best practices in a retail or remote technician environment.
