PSPT 1310 - Engine Service and Rebuild 4.5 Credits
Learners overhaul and repair lawn, garden, and recreational engines under shop conditions according to manufacturers’ recommendations. Learners gain valuable experience in shop conditions doing complete engine overhauls on the many types of engines used.
Prerequisites: (1) PSPT 1000 must be completed prior to this course.

Course Objectives
- Identify and describe the components and operating theories of Two- and Four-Stroke engines.
- Describe the systems and major parts of the two- and four- stroke lubrication systems.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance and service operations on two- and four- stroke lubrication systems.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance and service for the different types of engine cooling systems.
- Interpret and follow the manufacturer’s sequence for engine disassembly and reassembly.
- Align with manufacturer’s sequence to inspect and perform a two- and four-stroke engine top end service.
- Align with manufacturer’s sequence to inspect and perform a two and four-stroke engine bottom end service.
- Measuring, diagnosing and repairing two- and four-stroke engines.
