WELD 1262 - Quick Start


3.0 Credits

Students are given a quick start into a welding career by preparing them to pass the type of welding test given by many employers. Students learn the fundamentals of oxy-acetylene cutting, gas metal arc welding, and air carbon arc cutting. The course also explores print reading for welders.

Course Objectives
  1. Discuss operating and safety procedures of oxy- fuel processes and equipment.
  2. Make straight, bevel, circle, square, and odd shape cuts using Oxy- fuel equipment and plasma.
  3. Discuss operating and safety procedures for GMAW processes and equipment
  4. Weld Stringer beads, weave beads, fillet joints, and grove joints with GMAW Equipment
  5. Pass a welder qualification test using the spray transfer method of the GMAW process.
  6. Discuss operating and safety procedures for Ari Carbon Arc processes and equipment.
  7. Perform Gouging and Weld removal using the Air Carbon Arc Cutting process.
