VACA 1130 - Video I - Studio

This course is an introduction to the video medium. Students learn and practice the basics of operating a video camera, recording quality images and sound, and editing tape. Both studio and location assignments provide practical learning opportunities.

Course Objectives

Name and recognize hardware and software used in television control room and studio.
Demonstrate by operating broadcast studio camera and camera control units. Studio Camera shading and set up.
Direct and technically direct a live television show.
Perform audio set up with mics and sound and run audio for live TV show.
Produce 10 to 15-minute television show. Perform the writing, producing, and recording of an actual live television show
Plan, create and utilize graphic for individual television show.
Perform the basic duties of studio camera operator, floor person, recording operator, graphics operator, and prompter operator.
Perform proper lighting set up in television studio. Safety is stressed when working with TV studio lighting.
Demonstrate proper communication and terminology for a successful studio production.
