VACA 1130 - Video I - Studio 4.5 Credits
This course is an introduction to the video medium. Students learn and practice the basics of operating a video camera, recording quality images and sound, and editing tape. Both studio and location assignments provide practical learning opportunities.

Course Objectives
- Name and recognize hardware and software used in television control room and studio.
- Demonstrate by operating broadcast studio camera and camera control units. Studio Camera shading and set up.
- Direct and technically direct a live television show.
- Perform audio set up with mics and sound and run audio for live TV show.
- Produce 10 to 15-minute television show. Perform the writing, producing, and recording of an actual live television show
- Plan, create and utilize graphic for individual television show.
- Perform the basic duties of studio camera operator, floor person, recording operator, graphics operator, and prompter operator.
- Perform proper lighting set up in television studio. Safety is stressed when working with TV studio lighting.
- Demonstrate proper communication and terminology for a successful studio production.
