THEA 2170 - Stage Management 4.5 Credits
This course is an introduction to the creative and administrative work of stage management, including responsibilities and methods in rehearsal and productions, union considerations, and communication skills for collaboration.

Course Objectives 1. Manage a production from its pre-production meetings through the rehearsal hall to closing night.
2. Develop and maintain a prompt script for a production, that is, a book collecting all documentation of the production.
3. Create the paperwork that pushes the production forward, such as entrance/exit plots, prop tracking, contact sheets, costume tracking and rehearsal calls.
4. Set up and run a rehearsal room, from taping out the ground plan, designing its layout, supplying it properly through being on book and taking line notes.
5. Design a scene shift.
6. Managing company members in the rehearsal hall, in performance, and through photo calls and technical rehearsals.
7. Identify the various unions affiliated with stage management: Actor’s Equity Association, Stage Management Association, and the American Guild of Musical Artists.
