PHOT 1500 - Moving Image Lab

This course is an overview of methods used in moving-image production. By investigating the pre-production, production, and post-production processes, students achieve an understanding of how these principles integrate with still photography, video production, and multimedia.

Course Objectives
  1. Name and recognize the pre-production, production and post production components and processes of motion picture production based on lecture and reading assignments.
  2. Operate a professional video camera and practice basic camera movements, learn composition and the basics of creating a series of moving images to tell stories.
  3. Name, identify and operate all video camera functions used in professional production (white balance, f-stop, shutter and manual vs. automatic controls).
  4. Learn the basics of professional editing system including cutting, transitions and graphics to convey story.
  5. Correctly name, identify and operate different microphone techniques using proper placement and handling,
  6. Produce 5 short moving image projects and perform basic DVD authoring for distribution.
