ARTS 2240 - Screen Printing

This course provides an introduction to screen printing processes and techniques, including color separation, registration and photographic techniques. Students explore direct and indirect methods of creating stencils to print on paper and fabric, the historical and contemporary context of screen printing, and the expressive potential of screen printing as a fine art process.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Design and prepare screen prints using autographic and digital methods
Execute a consistent edition of prints using direct and indirect screen printing techniques
Safely operate and maintain screen print equipment
Critique a printed work
Utilize color theory concepts to create multicolor screen prints
Create a conceptual body of printed work
Investigate the work of historical and contemporary print artists
