UTIL 1110 - Line Construction I


4.5 Credits

Students learn to use hand tools, hand signals, basic wiring techniques, pole setting, framing and the use of vacuum excavation equipment. Students also learn to identify electrical apparatus.

NOTE: Completion of UTIL 1110 with a grade of C or better is required to advance to the next level class.

Course Objectives
  1. Review of the use of Lineman tools.
  2. Describe right-of-way and identify associated hazards.
  3. Review of work procedures.
  4. Describe poles, pole loading, pole hauling and pole setting.
  5. Identify conductors.
  6. Describe overhead construction.
  7. Demonstrate the operation of a vacuum excavator.
