WELD 2410 - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) - Stainless II 3.0 Credits
This course is a continuation of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding - Stainless I. It covers welding in the horizontal and overhead positions and includes the study of pulse-arc welding.
Prerequisites: (1) WELD 1410

Course Objectives 1. To be able to use and understand the standard and non-standard welding terms and definitions commonly used by welding professionals.
2. To be able to use Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes (GTAW & GTAW-P) to produce quality welds based on an understanding of their method of operation, equipment and application to the welding of stainless steel.
3. To be able to perform Gas Tungsten Arc Welding applications safely, with knowledge of related hazards and precautions.
4. To be able to properly and safely set up Gas Tungsten Arc Welding equipment and also properly and safely prepare for welding.
5. Demonstrate the ability to use optional features of the machine (i.e. hot start, slope, spot, etc.)
6. To be able to produce quality single-pass fillet welds in the horizontal and overhead positions
7. To be able to produce quality single-pass groove welds in the horizontal and overhead positions.
8. To be able to pass Welder Performance Qualification Tests in the horizontal and overhead positions.
