WELD 2220 - Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) - Stainless 3.0 Credits
In this course students learn advanced gas metal arc welding of stainless steel in all positions using short-circuit and pulsed-spray modes of metal transfer.
Prerequisites: (1) WELD 1200

Course Objectives
- To be able to use Gas Metal Arc Welding processes (GMAW, & GMAW-P) to produce quality welds based on an understanding of their method of operation, equipment and application to the welding of stainless steel.
- To be able to properly and safely set up Gas Metal Arc Welding equipment and also properly and safely prepare for welding.
- Produce sound groove and fillet welds in the flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead positions using stainless steel metals with the GMAW-S process.
- Produce sound fillet and groove welds in the flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead positions using stainless steel metals with the GMAW-P process.
- To be able to pass Welder Performance Qualification Tests in the flat and vertical positions.
