WELD 1510 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick) - Vertical

Students learn proper techniques for SMAW (stick) welding in the Vertical position using E6010 and E7018 electrodes, culminating with the student passing a Welder qualification test in the 3G(vertical) position.

Prerequisites: (1) WELD 1500  with a grade of C or better

Recommended: WELD 2500

Course Objectives
1. Discuss proper safety and operating procedures used in SMAW (stick) welding in the vertical position.

2. Safely and properly set up, adjust, and shut down SMAW welding equipment.

3. Identify different SMAW welding electrodes, and correctly set up power sources for each electrode.

4. Produce quality single pass fillet welds in the vertical position.

5. Produce quality multi-pass fillet welds in the vertical position.

6. Produce quality multi-pass groove welds in the vertical position.

7. Pass a Welder Qualification test in the vertical position.
