WELD 1160 - Welded Sculpture II


3.0 Credits

Students learn the fundamental skills required to create sculptures in steel and copper using gas metal arc welding, plasma cutting processes, and other welding-related metal-working equipment. Students combine these skills with those learned in Welded Sculpture I, applying the basic elements and principles of design and practice achieving unity and harmony to a greater degree as they work on succeeding pieces.

Course Objectives
  1. Students will gain the knowledge and fundamental skills needed to safely and effectively use Gas Metal Arc Welding and Plasma Cutting equipment.
  2. Students will gain the knowledge and fundamental skills needed to safely and effectively use related metal working equipment
  3. Students will demonstrate the ability to use the knowledge they have gained to fabricate and create steel projects.
  4. Students will demonstrate the ability to use the knowledge they have gained to fabricate and create copper projects.
  5. Students will apply the basic elements and principles of design to achieve unity and harmony
