TTEN 1000 - Introduction to Toyota 5.0 Credits
Introduction to Toyota is required for all students entering MCC’s T-TEN program. Shop and environmental safety course will be assigned to be completed before students are able to work in the auto shop lab. Includes an introduction to the automotive industry including automotive history, safety practices, shop equipment and tools, vehicle subsystems, service publications, fasteners, professional responsibilities, and automotive maintenance. The policies and procedures needed for the student’s dealer internships will be covered. Toyota curriculum is infused to meet the requirements of T-TEN course T256. Instructor approval required. 11 lecture, 22 lab hrs/wk. (3-week course).

Course Objectives 1. Demonstrate knowledge of Toyota history and principles.
2. Identify and describe Toyota technology.
3. Identify and describe proper safety procedures.
4. Identify and describe proper handling, disposal and protection needed in using common shop materials.
5. Identify and describe location of service information.
6. Demonstrate knowledge of Vehicle Identification Numbers.
7. Locate and describe the use of information labels on Toyota vehicles.
8. Describe Toyota’s engine and transmission identification system.
9. Identify and describe the proper selection and use of hand tools in a shop environment.
10. Perform typical measurements and conversions used in a shop environment.
11. Describe and demonstrate the proper procedure to lift a vehicle using a floor jack and jack stands and using a typical vehicle hoist.
12. Perform a Pre-Delivery Service on a vehicle.
13. Perform a general maintenance service on a vehicle.
14. Identify and describe tire information and perform proper service and repair procedures.
15. Demonstrate ability to write an estimate for various repairs.
16. Demonstrate ability to complete a repair order.
17. Demonstrate knowledge of Toyota 6-step diagnostic process.
18. Demonstrate the ability to properly submit a warranty claim.
