PRMA 2510 - Die Design and Construction


9.0 Credits

Students will safety perform the processes and procedures necessary to create quality machining parts for a blanking die.  Students will work in teams under the Instructor’s supervision and guidance to advance their skills in die making. In this course, students will create all of the components necessary to construct a blanking die.

Prerequisites: (1) PRMA 2500  with a grade of C or better

Course Objectives
  1. Design a basic die using SolidWorks and Mastercam from a part drawing.
  2. Safely construct the various components needed to create the die from drawing.
  3. Assemble components to create a working die.
  4. Safely use proper die setting techniques to install the die into the punch press.
  5. Troubleshoot and make corrections for changes needed to the die to produce a quality part.
