PHOT 1108 - Basic Experimental Photography 6.0 Credits
Students continue the practical application of processes learned in PHOT 1106 . Students learn to use popular historical process and contemporary techniques as a means of reaching new visual goals. Students create work that demonstrates how historical photographic processes can be used in a contemporary context.
Prerequisites: (1) PHOT 1106 with a grade of C or better

Course Objectives
- Express thoughts beyond conventional to discover the process of personal creation.
- Identify photographic processes and innovations, historical through present day.
- Examine the potential of modification through the use of alternative materials and the effect it can have on an image, both visually and contextually.
- Utilize contemporary methods of image capture with historical image making processes
- Mix formulas from component chemicals in a safe manner.
- Utilize related printmaking equipment, materials and processes.
- Compose images incorporating alternative and non-silver processes.
- Research and expand awareness of important historical and contemporary photographers who embrace experimental approaches to image-making.
