EMSP 1123 - Paramedic Clinical/Field Component Part 1 of 3 3.5 Credits
The clinical/field component of the paramedic program allows the student to synthesize cognitive and psychomotor skills. As the clinical/field corequisite of EMSP 1122 Paramedic Part 2 of 4, this course integrates and reinforces the didactic and skills laboratory component of the paramedic curriculum. The student will follow sound educational principles that will be logically sequenced to proceed from simple to complex tasks, being closely supervised and evaluated by experienced preceptors. This course must be taken concurrently with EMSP 1122 .

Course Objectives
- The student must demonstrate the ability to safely administer medications.
- The student must demonstrate the ability to safely perform endotracheal intubation.
- The student must demonstrate the ability to safely gain venous access in all age group patients.
- The student must demonstrate the ability to effectively ventilate unintubated patients of all age groups.
- The student must demonstrate the ability to perform a compressive assessment on adult patients.
- The student must demonstrate the ability to perform a comprehensive assessment, formulate and implement a treatment plan for patients with dyspnea/respiratory distress.
