ELTR 1250 - Electric Equipment Controls


6.0 Credits

Students learn the electric controls for general motor controllers, such as, time clock lighting controls, AC controls, among others.  Students learn the allowable ampacities for various circuits and the NEC code regulations that define each. Troubleshooting procedures are explained and practiced.

Prerequisites: (1) ELTR 1220  with a grade of C or better

Course Objectives

1.    Define terminology used in Electric Equipment Controls.

2.    Explain basic control principles.

3.    Identify control components and devices.

4.    Demonstrate the ability to apply proper safety procedures in wiring.

5.    Explain the different allowable ampacities and rules of a control circuit.

6.    Define the different control circuits.

7.    Identify NEC code related to each equipment control.

8.    Analyze a control circuit and determine the appropriate process for wiring.

9.    Apply troubleshooting procedures to non-working electrical control circuits.
