ELAP 2410 - Electrical IVA 7.0 Credits
Students learn single phase and three phase wye and delta transformers and power systems. Through classroom instruction, they gain an understanding of transformer theory, calculations and sizing and the effects of induction, capacitance and power factor. Students are introduced to the basics of fire alarm systems.

Course Objectives
- Demonstrate an understanding of transformer theory.
- Develop a basic understanding of power factor.
- Develop an understanding of single phase transformer formulas, neutral and load balancing, types of transformers and connections.
- Develop an understanding of three phase transformers, connections, calculations and load balancing.
- Demonstrate an understanding of transformer short circuit current and overcurrent protection calculations.
- Discuss the components and operation of a basic fire alarm system.
