DESL 2981 - Diesel Internship 8.0 Credits
This internship gives students the needed experience to advance their skills while working with a qualified mentor in a diesel repair shop or dealership. The experience provides students with the opportunity to practice their skills in real-life work situations. Applications for internships must be approved by program faculty.

Course Objectives 1. Develop a viable resume.
2. Develop job hunting and interviewing skills
3. Secure employment independently.
4. Perform heavy duty diesel service, adjustment, disassembly, inspection, and assembly.
5. Identify internal/external and integrated parts for HD and MD Diesel Equipment.
6. Properly diagnose component fault codes and component failures.
7. Gain technical skills by disassembling, inspecting, and assembling Diesel equipment systems.
8. Properly diagnose component failures by performing 4 and 7 above.
9. Use industry specialty tools in 4 through 7 above.
10. Diagnose electrical and electronic failures or fault codes.
11. Properly use EST’s to diagnose and analyze electronic and mechanical failures for 10 above.
12. Master use of proper industry terminology.
