DESL 2980 - On-the-Job Training/Work Externship 6.0 Credits
This course gives students an opportunity to review with a CDL instructor the driving skills learned during the students’ first weeks of employment. This also allows for additional instruction by a CDL instructor if required. Students must complete at least 240 hours of instruction with a mentor in order to receive credit for this course. Application for On-the-Job Training/Work Externship must be approved by the program faculty.

Course Objectives
- Throughout DESL 1310 and DESL 1320, transportation recruiters will visit the program to present their respective company’s employment opportunities to students. Students are expected to complete and submit to their desired companies, an application for employment. This application process may require time and travel by the student to complete the interview process and gain employment as a truck driver.
- Secure program related employment.
