DESL 2110 - Heavy Equipment Drivetrain 6.0 Credits
Students study heavy equipment traction drives, brake systems, differentials, and their steering systems along with track and suspension systems.
Prerequisites: (1) DESL 1000 with a C or better

Course Objectives
- Work safely in the shop/laboratory without harm to oneself or other students
- Gain the skill of tool usage through the hands-on use of the student’s tools & hydraulic equipment/tools supplied by the college
- Perform HE drivetrain component disassembly, inspection and assembly with a strong emphasis on quality work and cleanliness
- Identify HE drivetrain parts and components with accepted industry terminology and schematics
- Diagnose sophisticated HE drivetrain component failures
- Explain the function and theory of HE drivetrain system components with proper terminology
- Properly disassemble and assemble several HE drivetrain pumps, motors, valves, and suspension components
- Properly use specialty HE rebuilding tools
- Use of industry standard and OEM HE terminology in oral and written communications
