CNST 1360 - Floor, Wall, Stair and Ceiling Framing 9.0 Credits
Students learn the fundamentals of floor framing, wall parts, wall construction, stair parts, stair construction and installation of ceiling posts. Students construct a full-scale house in the indoor lab.
Prerequisites: (2) CNST 1020 and CNST 1050

Course Objectives
- List and define terminology used in this course.
- List and discuss the various types of framing methods, IRC Building codes and sustainable building practices.
- Describe and explain all steps in project planning.
- Understand and define building site considerations.
- Recognize and describe the load building load path.
- Demonstrate knowledge of layout procedure laying out floor joist in practical application.
- Install floor joist in a practical application.
- Apply floor sheathing and recording proper fastening.
- Examine and install SIPs in a laboratory situation.
- Participate in Layout of plates, wall framing and plumbing of walls.
- Layout and install ceiling joist.
- Explore stair framing technics and practice the layout and framing of a stair.
- Discuss the use of steel stud framing.
