ARTS 2340 - Book Arts 4.5 Credits
In this printmaking course, students will learn the formal and conceptual foundations of handmade book making. The class introduces the book as an artform and provides an overview of how to create various folded, sewn and glued book structures. Students will produce original imagery in their handmade book projects utilizing a variety of printmaking techniques.

Course Objectives 1. Create handmade books to demonstrate skill with a variety of book arts tools and hand printing techniques
2. Design and prepare print matrixes for relief printing and stenciling
3. Create a book that conveys an idea and uses the book format as a means of expression
4. Use correct terminology to analyze, judge and interpret a book
5. Investigate the work of historical and contemporary book artists through written assignments and/or oral presentations
