ARCH 1160 - AutoCAD for Architecture 9.0 Credits
Students learn 2D computer-aided drawing techniques and foundational skills in an architectural context. Students identify and use AutoCAD software applications to create drawings, documents and schedules for building projects. Students critically analyze needs and problems presented and demonstrate solutions to classic construction document challenges.

Course Objectives
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic drawing creation using orthographic projection.
- Identify and utilize AutoCAD software commands to create architectural drawings including floor plans, elevations and sections.
- Employ National CAD Standard criteria including layers and line weights to organized drawings.
- Apply hatch patterns and gradient fills in 2D environments.
- Calculate scale factors and drawing sizes for the creation of sheet layouts.
- Create and manipulate Block, WBlock and XRef components.
- Understand and use the page setup and plotting tools to produce hard copy documents.
