ARTS 2560 - Portfolio Development and Professional Practice 4.5 Credits
This course prepares students to build a comprehensive, professional presentation of their work using skills and concepts developed in earlier visual arts coursework. In addition, the course covers legal, financial, and ethical issues for the self-employed artist and for the artist embarking on a job search.

Course Objectives 1. Develop a professional portfolio and application for exhibition, employment or admission to a four-year institution.
2. Create an artist statement and further demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate the formal and conceptual aspects of a work of art through group critiques.
3. Create professional documentation and preparation of artwork for exhibition in order to illustrate an understanding of accepted practices and standards expected of the artist exhibiting work in the professional art community.
4. Establish a self-promotion package and create a professional online presence using a website or blog.
5. Identify practical, financial and legal concerns relevant to artists through research and interactions with professionals.
